My days in the Power Division, during 2009 to 2012, were very exciting and challenging. Arranging primary fuel for power generation was the main challenge due to ‘natural gas supply shortage’ from indigenous resources. Still this is one of the major challenges though generation capacity for electricity production has increased significantly. Import dependency of primary fuel for electricity generation, transportation sector and cooking has become a serious concern. Volatile price of imported primary fuel has huge impact on economy as primary energy and electricity are the key ingredients of economic progress. 

Bangladesh Energy Society (BES) was founded in 2021 to support Government, Public and Private Sector for ensuring energy security and sustainable development in Bangladesh.

I hope energy and power sector professionals will come forward and join with us to make Bangladesh Energy Society a vibrant organization to provide intellectual support in the field of energy and power.
